Wellhead Technician

Job Overview: A Wellhead Technician here at SandPro plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper functioning and integrity of wellhead equipment in oil and gas drilling operations. This position involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of wellheads and associated equipment to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities:

• Installation and Maintenance: Install, inspect, and maintain wellhead equipment, including casing heads, tubing heads, valves, and associated components according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
• Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose equipment malfunctions, perform troubleshooting activities, and implement corrective measures to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
• Pressure Testing: Conduct pressure testing of wellhead equipment to verify integrity and compliance with safety standards, and perform necessary repairs or replacements as needed.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and procedures while performing maintenance and repair activities, including proper handling of equipment, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and adherence to safety guidelines.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and equipment inventory to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and facilitate equipment management.
• Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergencies, such as equipment failures or wellhead leaks, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of personnel and the environment.
• Training and Development: Stay updated on advancements in wellhead technology, safety regulations, and industry best practices through training programs and professional development opportunities.
• Field Tickets: Understand and conduct field tickets. 

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or vocational training in mechanical or petroleum engineering is preferred.
• Proven experience in wellhead maintenance, installation, and repair within the oil and gas industry.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using hand and power tools for equipment maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of wellhead equipment, components, and systems, as well as understanding of industry standards and regulations (e.g., API standards).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to safety guidelines and protocols.
• Valid and clean driver’s license and record and willingness to travel to work sites as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor in outdoor and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
• Stamina and physical fitness to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screenings.
